Our approach to research relies on making as much as observing. We believe that constantly prototyping physical and digital experience is a sounder, faster way to get market insights with real impact.
Depending on what needs to be assessed, we create experience prototypes that range from a quick paper mockup of a smartphone app to a polished, high-fidelity replica of a new connected device. When people have the chance to experience an idea first hand in this way, it produces reactions that aren’t just more accurate, but more actionable: our findings help us evolve our prototypes, so discovery and refinement go hand in hand.
Design research at CIID Consulting is a qualitative, in-context, investigative process. By spending longer blocks of time with respondents, we can shadow, interview and observe, letting us capture and interpret a full spectrum of behaviours. We recognise that it’s hard for people to articulate gut reactions – yet these are the feelings that shape user and consumer behaviour. Observing people in their environments, interacting with the right prototypes, gives us a unique window into that world.
